Team CSC Defends Voigt's Yellow Jersey

[12.08 16:41] Team CSC successfully defended Jens Voigt's yellow jersey in the 182-kilometre third stage of the Deutschland Tour from Pforzheim to Offenburg, in which the riders faced the first two category one climbs of the race.

10 kilometres from the finish there was a short but steep climb where Jens Voigt made a minor attack creating a new small front group of 8–9 favourites in this class, but only a small gap was achieved before T-Mobile and Milram led the rest of the field back to the front with 3–4 kilometres to go.

Erik Zabel (Milram) kept a good position on the various climbs and ended up winning the stage.

"Of course, we had to work hard for it, but that's how it is, isn't it! I had actually expected a few more attacks in the tough terrain, but this is good enough for us. Jens' attack very nearly made it even better, but we are very satisfied and Jens is looking very strong," said sports director, Kim Andersen, after the stage. He also praised Juan José Haedo and Fabian Cancellara for all their hard work leading up to the climbs and young Chris Anker Sørensen for his efforts at the front of the field through Zuflucht.
