Season Over for Nicki Sørensen
[20.08 13:30] Unfortunately the season has come to a sudden halt for Team CSC's Nicki Sørensen after the experienced Dane had an unfortunate accident in his home, where he broke three bones in his foot.
He will not have to undergo surgery, but he has to wear a cast for five or six weeks and is not able to get back on his bike till after the end of the season.
The expectations for a good autumn were high on behalf of Sørensen after an impressive performance in Tour of Denmark recently.
"He's really upset, because he' been looking forward to doing Tour of Ireland, Vuelta a España and of course the World Championships. He's been training towards these races for ages now and I think he's proven that he's on top form in Sachsen Tour and Tour of Denmark – better than ever actually. So it was a tough blow. His performance in Tour of Denmark was impressive and I believe he would've been even stronger for the Vuelta," sighs an unhappy sports director Kim Andersen. |
